Standalone Settings

Configure standalone poll settings to control page assignments, creation permissions, voting access, and poll types. All settings are managed from the Polls Settings tab.

Navigate to WP Admin > BuddyBoss > WB Polls > Polls Settings to configure standalone poll settings.

Polls Settings Tab

When you activate WB Polls, two pages are created automatically:

  • Poll Dashboard displays the poll management interface
  • Create Poll displays the poll creation form

Both pages are template-based. The plugin injects content automatically, so no shortcode is needed in these pages.

If you prefer to use different pages:

  1. Create new WordPress pages with empty content
  2. Open Polls Settings and select your pages from the dropdowns
  3. Click Save

The plugin automatically injects the appropriate template when those pages are viewed.

Control what happens when users create new polls.

Status When to Use
Publish Trust your users. Polls go live immediately.
Pending Review polls before they become public. Recommended for open communities.
Draft Users must explicitly publish polls later.

Select which user roles can access the poll creation form. Administrators can always create polls regardless of this setting.

Let voters suggest additional answer options on polls. When enabled, voters can propose new choices that the poll creator reviews and approves.

When enabled, poll results stay hidden until the user casts their vote. This prevents bandwagon voting where users pick the leading option.

Enable discussion on poll pages. Users can leave comments to explain their choices or discuss the topic.

Select which user roles can vote on standalone polls.

Allow non-logged-in visitors to vote. When guest voting is enabled, visitors do not need an account. Votes are tracked using browser cookies and IP-based duplicate prevention.

Guest voting works well for public opinion polls, website feedback, and polls shared on social media. Keep in mind that guest voting provides less accurate tracking and may be susceptible to vote manipulation.

Enable or disable specific poll formats:

  • Enable Image Polls allows image-based options
  • Enable Video Polls allows video attachments
  • Enable Audio Polls allows audio clips
  • Enable HTML Polls allows rich HTML content in options
  • Disable HTML Editor removes the visual editor, limiting users to plain text
  • Use Simple Textarea replaces the rich editor with a basic text field
