Overview

BuddyPress Status lets members of your community post short status updates — up to 140 characters — directly from their BuddyPress profile. Updates can include Unicode emojis, a feeling or activity tag (Celebrating, Watching, Eating, etc.), and quick-pick suggestions that you configure as the site admin.

  • Status text with emojis. Members type a message in a text area on their profile. An inline emoji picker gives access to 1,500+ Unicode emojis organized into categories (Smileys, People, Nature, Food, and more).
  • Feeling and activity tags. Members can attach a tag such as “Watching” or “Travelling” that displays alongside the status text. Eleven activity types ship by default; admins can add custom ones.
  • Status history. Every status a member posts is saved in a list on their profile. They can set any saved status as their current one, edit it, or delete it.
  • Global status suggestions. Admins create a list of suggested statuses (for example, “In a meeting” or “On a coffee break”). Members see these as one-click options below the text area.
  • Directory display. The member’s current status (truncated to 30 characters) can appear in the BuddyPress members directory.
