License and Updates

Pro. This feature requires WB Member Blog Pro. The free plugin must be installed and active first. See the Pro index for every Pro module.

Activating your license key gives you automatic updates and support. Go to Member Blog > License.

Pro’s features do not depend on the license. An unactivated site keeps every module, every setting and every shortcode. What it loses is updates, and updates are where security fixes live, so an unactivated site drifts out of date and eventually breaks. Activate it.

  1. Go to Member Blog > License.
  2. Paste your license key. It is in your purchase receipt and in your Wbcom Designs account.
  3. Click Activate License.

The Status row then reads Active: receiving updates, and shows your renewal date (or says the license is lifetime, if it is).

Status Meaning
Active: receiving updates The key is activated on this site. Updates will arrive.
Key saved but not activated The key is in the field but has not been linked to this site. Click Activate License.
Not activated: updates are paused No key. The plugin works; updates do not arrive.

When a license is valid, the key is masked and the field is read-only. Deactivate first to change it.

If a license is within 30 days of expiry, the License tab warns you.

Click Deactivate License on the old site before activating on the new one. That frees the activation slot.

Nothing to do. Your license stays activated and you do not need to re-enter your key.

The update replaces the plugin’s updater with the shared Wbcom EDD SDK, but the option that stores your key is unchanged, so the new code reads the key that is already there. The License tab also falls back to the old status record until the SDK’s own weekly check runs, so an upgrading site never shows “inactive” to a paying customer just because the new record has not been filled in yet.

WB Member Blog (free) needs no license key and has no License tab. It receives updates from Wbcom Designs without one.

Free and Pro share one updater. Install both updates together: Pro 4.0.0 requires the free plugin at 4.0.0.
