Quick Setup

After activating WP Stories, navigate to WP Stories > Settings in your WordPress admin. The settings are organized into tabs: General, Displaying Options, User Publishing Options, Styling Options, and Integrations.

Start with the General tab to choose your story display style (Square, List, or Instagram) and configure privacy settings. Then visit the User Publishing Options tab to set which user roles can create stories and configure upload limits.

To display the story feed on any page, add the [wb-story-activities] shortcode using the block editor or classic editor. This shortcode renders all user-submitted stories in the display style you selected.

If you want users to be able to create stories directly from that page, use the shortcode with the form parameter enabled:

[wb-story-activities form="1"]

Once the shortcode is placed on a page, logged-in users will see an Add Story button. Clicking it opens the story creation form where users can:

  1. Upload images or videos as story items.
  2. Optionally add link text and a URL to each item.
  3. Set the visibility (Everyone, Only Me, All Members, or My Friends).
  4. Edit images using the built-in TUI Image Editor, which supports cropping, rotating, drawing, adding text, applying filters, and more.
  5. Submit the story.

The story will appear in the feed according to the publication status configured in User Publishing Options (Published, Draft, Pending Review, or Private).
