General Settings
Section titled “General Settings”The General Settings tab is at WB Plugins > Edit Activity > General Settings.
Activity Editing section
Section titled “Activity Editing section”Enable activity editing
Section titled “Enable activity editing”Option name (database): _bp_enable_edit_option
Toggle this on to show the Edit button on activity posts and comments. When off, no Edit buttons appear anywhere on the site and the feature is completely dormant.
Default: off.
Edit window
Section titled “Edit window”Option name (database): _bp_edit_activity_duration
Controls how long after the original post date a member can still edit. Once the window passes, the Edit button disappears for that post.

Default: forever.
Note about admins: Site administrators (capability manage_options / user level 10) are never subject to the edit window. They can edit any post at any time while this feature is enabled.
Overview tab
Section titled “Overview tab”The Overview tab (the default landing page) shows your current configuration at a glance:
- Whether activity editing is on or off.
- Your current edit window setting.
- Whether the BuddyPress Activity component is active.
If the Activity component is inactive, a warning banner appears. Editing cannot work without it.
Settings also appear in BuddyPress Settings
Section titled “Settings also appear in BuddyPress Settings”These same two options (_bp_enable_edit_option and _bp_edit_activity_duration) are also registered under Settings > BuddyPress > Activity. Changes saved there take effect immediately — both surfaces write to the same database options.
Saving
Section titled “Saving”Click Save Settings at the bottom of the General Settings tab. A success message confirms the save. The page stays on the General Settings tab after saving.
If you save and the settings appear to have reverted, check that the BuddyPress Activity component is active — the plugin silently skips its field registration when the component is missing.
