Installation

Before you begin

Make sure the following are already active on your site:

• WordPress 5.0 or higher
• BuddyPress 8.0 or higher
• PHP 7.4 or higher
• BuddyX Pro or Reign Theme

The plugin will show an admin notice and deactivate itself if BuddyPress is missing or if neither of the supported themes is active.

Install via WordPress admin

1. Go to Plugins > Add New in your WordPress dashboard.
2. Search for BuddyPress Reactions.
3. Click Install Now, then Activate.

Install by uploading a ZIP

1. Download the plugin ZIP file.
2. Go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
3. Choose the ZIP file and click Install Now.
4. Click Activate Plugin.

Install via FTP

1. Unzip the plugin archive.
2. Upload the buddypress-reactions folder to /wp-content/plugins/.
3. Go to Plugins in your WordPress dashboard and activate Wbcom Designs - BuddyPress Reactions.

What happens on activation

When you activate the plugin for the first time, it:

• Creates three database tables: {prefix}bp_reactions_emojis, {prefix}bp_reactions_shortcodes, and {prefix}bp_reactions_reacted_emoji.
• Populates the emoji table with 200 built-in SVG emojis.
• Creates default reaction sets for activities, activity comments, blog posts, forum topics, and forum replies.
• Enables reactions on BuddyPress activities and activity comments by default.

Finding the admin settings

After activation, go to Wbcom Designs > BP Reactions in the WordPress admin sidebar. The plugin opens on the Welcome tab, which has links to documentation and support. The actual settings are in the tabs across the top: My Reactions, BP Integration, Forums (visible when bbPress is active), Emoji Labels, Log, and FAQ.
