One overall star rating tells you nothing.

WB Listora Pro lets reviewers rate per aspect (Food, Service, Value, Ambiance) plus attach photos plus get owner replies.

Reviews that actually inform.

#WordPress #DirectoryPlugin

Visitors compare. Make it easy.

Heart-save up to 4 listings, hit Compare, see them side-by-side. Floating selection bar follows you across the whole site. Persists via localStorage.

Pro feature.

Most directories: vendors list, customers search.

WB Listora Pro adds the reverse: buyers post what they need (“caterer for 200 in Brooklyn”), businesses respond with quotes.

Two flywheels in one plugin.

#WordPress #DirectoryPlugin

You should not have to do every approval yourself.

WB Listora Pro’s Moderators feature grants team members the exact scopes they need: approve listings, approve claims, moderate reviews, resolve reports. Nothing else.

#WordPress #WPDev

Trust signals matter. Verified vendors stand out from the long tail.

WB Listora Pro: define your badge types (Verified Owner, Top Rated, Editor’s Pick), pick color and icon, set expiry. Badges render on cards, detail and search facets.

Directories die from review spam.

WB Listora ships 6 layers, all on by default in Free:

  1. Honeypot
  2. Per-IP rate limits
  3. reCAPTCHA v3 or Cloudflare Turnstile
  4. Akismet
  5. Keyword blacklist
  6. URL density cap

Vendors submit a paid plan, credits are HELD. When admin approves the listing, credits COMMIT.

If the listing is rejected, credits go back. No silent debits.

That is Hold-and-Commit. Pro only.

Vendors should never see wp-admin.

/my-listings/ covers edit, renew, reply to reviews, manage services. Pro adds incoming leads, saved searches, needs responses.

One frontend page. Zero wp-admin friction.

Pro ships 7 payment integrations through the Wbcom Credits SDK.

Stripe direct. PayPal direct. Plus adapters for WooCommerce, WooSubscriptions, MemberPress, PMPro, WooMemberships.

Vendors pay how they already pay you.

Most WordPress directory plugins take a weekend to set up.

WB Listora’s setup wizard gets you from install to a working directory with demo content in 30 minutes.

Then you customize at your pace, not the plugin’s.

Built our search on a denormalized index because WP_Query falls over at 100K listings.

W-04 - Why most directory plugins do not earn

Section titled “W-04 - Why most directory plugins do not earn”

The reason most WordPress directory plugins do not earn for site owners:

There is no clean way to charge vendors.

WB Listora Pro fixes that. Credit packs, plans, coupons, Hold-and-Commit activation. Vendors pay. You collect.

#WordPress

Every directory plugin works one way: vendors list, customers find.

WB Listora Pro flips the script with a Needs Marketplace: buyers post what they want, businesses respond with quotes.

Two flywheels feeding each other.

Building a Next.js or Astro front end on top of WordPress?

WB Listora has 58 REST endpoints in Free. 73 more in Pro. Cursor pagination. RFC-3339 timestamps. Auth-gated where appropriate.

Building directories for clients?

WB Listora Pro’s White Label feature lets agencies ship with their own brand on every admin screen. Custom color, custom logo, custom admin menu.

Hand off without “Wbcom” branding.

Who deleted that listing? Who approved that claim? Who rejected that review?

WB Listora Pro’s Audit Log records every transition with user, action, target and timestamp.

Safe team delegation needs an audit trail.

1/5 A WordPress directory plugin is supposed to do three things: let people find businesses, let businesses be found, and let you make money doing it.

Most plugins do the first two badly and leave the third as homework.

WB Listora was built to do all three.

2/5 Free is a complete public directory.

11 Gutenberg blocks. Denormalized search that scales to 100K listings. Geo radius. Reviews. Business claims. Frontend submission. 6 layers of anti-spam. All on by default.

Launch a niche city guide on Free alone. Never upgrade.

3/5 Pro is the business model layer.

Credit plans with Hold-and-Commit activation. Lead forms with analytics. Verification badges. Moderators team. Side-by-side comparison. Saved searches with alerts.

Plus the reverse Needs Marketplace.

4/5 Built on native Gutenberg blocks and the Interactivity API.

No page builder lock-in. No jQuery soup. No shortcode wall.

259 documented hooks. 58 REST endpoints in Free, 73 more in Pro. 8 WP-CLI commands. Templates overrideable WooCommerce-style.

5/5 Free is the complete public directory. Pro adds the business model. Both ship today.

Thread T-2 - How Hold-and-Commit works (4 tweets)

Section titled “Thread T-2 - How Hold-and-Commit works (4 tweets)”

1/4 Most directory plugins charge vendors at submission, then discover the listing fails moderation. Now you owe a refund.

WB Listora Pro fixes this with Hold-and-Commit credits. Here is how it works.

2/4 Vendor picks a paid plan and submits.

Pro checks credit balance, HOLDS the cost (does not deduct), and marks the listing as Awaiting Credits or Pending.

If the balance is short, the listing pauses and the vendor sees exactly how many credits they need to top up.

3/4 Admin reviews and approves.

That is when credits COMMIT (debit) and the listing goes live with the right featured-rotation entitlement.

Admin rejects? Hold releases. Vendor’s balance is untouched.

4/4 No silent debits. No refunds. No support tickets asking “where did my credits go”.

That is one of 32 Pro feature modules in WB Listora Pro.

Thread T-3 - 6 anti-spam layers explained (6 tweets)

Section titled “Thread T-3 - 6 anti-spam layers explained (6 tweets)”

1/6 WordPress directory plugins die from review spam, claim spam and fake submissions.

WB Listora ships 6 anti-spam layers, all on by default in Free. A spammer has to defeat all 6.

Here is each layer.

2/6 Layer 1: Honeypot.

Every form has an invisible field. Bots fill it. Humans do not. Submission is rejected silently before any DB write.

Cost: zero CAPTCHA friction for real users.

3/6 Layer 2: Per-IP sliding-window rate limits.

Sane caps on review submits, claim submits, contact-form submits, search calls. Caps are filterable so high-traffic sites can tune them.

4/6 Layer 3: reCAPTCHA v3 or Cloudflare Turnstile.

Score-based and invisible. No more “click all the buses”. Configurable threshold.

Layer 4: Akismet on reviews and claims.

5/6 Layer 5: Keyword blacklist.

Site-wide phrase list rejects matching content. You add the phrases that your category attracts.

Layer 6: URL density cap.

Reviews with more than N links are rejected before reaching Akismet. Stops link-stuffing.

6/6 All 6 layers are in Free. All on by default. All configurable via the Anti-Spam settings tab.

Plus Pro adds a Coming Soon mode to gate the whole directory while you tune.
