Settings Overview
Admin path: WB Plugins > BP Friend & Follow > (any settings tab)
The plugin settings live under the “WB Plugins” menu in your WordPress admin. If you have other Wbcom plugins installed, they share the same top-level “WB Plugins” menu. Navigate to WB Plugins > BP Friend & Follow to reach this plugin’s settings.
The settings page has a sidebar with six tabs. Each tab writes to its own WordPress option, so you can save them independently.
Tab overview
Section titled “Tab overview”| Tab | What it controls | Option stored |
|---|---|---|
| Overview | Dashboard analytics | bffs_analytics_data (read-only display) |
| General | Matching algorithm - which profile fields drive suggestions | bffs_general_setting |
| Display | How suggestions appear on profiles, directory, and widgets | bffs_display_setting |
| Notifications | Email digests and per-member opt-out controls | bffs_notifications_setting |
| Advanced | Export/import settings, email template reinstall, danger-zone reset | bffs_advanced_setting |
| License | EDD license key activation | (EDD option, not plugin-owned) |
There is also a per-member setting visible to logged-in members on their BuddyPress notification settings page, documented in Member Email Preferences.
Required components
Section titled “Required components”The plugin checks for these on activation and on every admin page load. If either is missing, the plugin deactivates itself silently to protect your site.
- BuddyPress (any version with the Extended Profiles / xprofile component active)
- BuddyPress Extended Profiles component enabled under BuddyPress > Components
For notification emails to work, BuddyPress Settings component must also be active.
Save order matters
Section titled “Save order matters”General tab settings (specifically “Enable Profile Matching”) control whether the rest of the plugin’s frontend behavior is active. Turn that on first, configure your matching fields, then move to Display and Notifications.
