General Questions
How do I activate my Pro license?
Go to Member Blog → License Enter your license key Click Activate You’ll receive updates automatically
Do I need the free plugin too?
Yes. WB Member Blog Pro extends the free plugin. Install both:
Install and activate Member Blog (free) Install and activate WB Member Blog Pro
Which modules should I enable?
Start with the defaults that are enabled after installation:
Post Restrictions - Limit spam and control posting frequency Notifications - Keep everyone informed Author Dashboard - Member self-service
Enable other modules as needed. Disabled modules don’t load any code, so there’s no performance penalty.
Will enabling all modules slow my site?
Each module adds minimal overhead. However:
Analytics has the most impact (tracks every view) Consider caching for high-traffic sites Only enable what you actually use
Modules & Features
How do I enable a module?
Go to Member Blog → Features & Modules Toggle the module switch to On Click Save Changes New settings tab appears for that module
Why don’t I see a module’s settings?
The module must be enabled first. Settings tabs only appear for enabled modules.
Can I enable modules for specific roles only?
Modules are site-wide, but their effects can be role-based:
Restrictions: Set different limits per role Credits: Assign different amounts per role Scheduling: Allow only certain roles to schedule
Post Restrictions
How do I limit posts per day?
Enable Post Restrictions module Go to Member Blog → Restrictions Set daily limit for each role Save changes
Can I set different limits for different roles?
Yes. Each role has its own limit settings. For example:
Subscriber: 1 post/day Contributor: 3 posts/day Author: 10 posts/day
How do I make a user exempt from limits?
Edit the user’s profile in WordPress admin Find Member Blog Restrictions section Check Exempt from Restrictions Save the user profile
Custom Fields
How do I add a custom field?
Enable Custom Fields module Go to Member Blog → Custom Fields Click Add New Field Configure field type, label, and options Save
How do I display custom field values on posts?
Use the shortcode:
[bp-member-blog-custom-field id=“your_field_key”]
What field types are available?
15 types: Text, Textarea, Number, Email, URL, Date, Date & Time, Select, Multi-Select, Checkbox, Radio, File, Image, Gallery, Oembed, Color.
Co-Authors
How do members invite co-authors?
Create or edit a post Click Add Co-Author Search for a member Click Invite Wait for them to accept
Can co-authors delete the post?
No. Only the primary author can delete. Co-authors can edit content, upload images, and save drafts.
How do I limit co-authors per post?
Go to Member Blog → Co-Authors and set Max Co-Authors (default: 5).
Group Blogs
Why don’t I see the Groups module?
It requires BuddyPress or BuddyBoss with the Groups component active.
Are group blog posts private?
They inherit group privacy:
Public group → Posts visible to everyone Private group → Posts visible to members only Hidden group → Posts visible to members only
Notifications
Why aren’t emails sending?
Check WordPress email is working (test with another plugin) Verify notification type is enabled Check member hasn’t opted out Use an SMTP plugin for reliability
Do notifications work with BuddyBoss app?
Yes. Notifications are optimized for BuddyBoss mobile app with push notifications, shorter mobile-friendly text, and deep links to posts.
Post Credits
How do credits work?
Members receive credits (purchase, membership, or manual) Publishing a post deducts 1 credit At 0 credits, they can’t publish new posts
How do I sell credit packs?
Requires WooCommerce:
Enable Post Credits module Go to Post Credits → Credit Packs Create packs with prices Add [bpmb_credit_packs] to a page
Can I integrate with membership plugins?
Yes. Supported integrations:

Scheduling
How do members schedule posts?
Write the post Click Schedule instead of Publish Select date and time Click Schedule Post
What if a scheduled post doesn’t publish?
Check WP-Cron is working. For reliable scheduling, consider setting up a server-level cron job.
Post Series
How do members create a series?
Create a post Find Series section Click Add to Series Create new or select existing series Save
Can multiple authors contribute to one series?
Yes. Any author can add their posts to an existing series.
Analytics
What data is tracked?
Page views per post Daily view counts Traffic sources (referrers) Top performing posts
Does analytics slow down my site?
It adds a small database write per page view. For high-traffic sites, enable object caching and set data retention to limit database size.
Troubleshooting
Module settings not saving
Check for JavaScript errors in browser console Verify user has admin privileges Clear any caching Check for plugin conflicts
Custom fields not appearing
Verify Custom Fields module is enabled Check field visibility settings Clear cache
Credits not deducting
Verify Post Credits module is enabled Check credits are assigned to the user Ensure post status changed to “publish”
Group blog tab missing
