Group Blogs
Pro. This feature requires WB Member Blog Pro. The free plugin must be installed and active first. See the Pro index for every Pro module.
Lets members link a blog post to a BuddyPress or BuddyBoss group. Linked posts appear in the group’s Blog tab, and can create a group activity entry. Off by default.
Requires BuddyPress or BuddyBoss with the Groups component active. Without a groups platform the module stays inactive even if you toggle it on, and the settings tab says so.
Turn it on at Member Blog > Features, then configure it at Member Blog > Groups Integration.
Group Integration
Section titled “Group Integration”| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Enable BuddyPress Group Integration | Lets members associate a post with a group when they write it |
| Who can link their posts to groups? | Group Admin, Group Moderator, Group Member. A member can link a post only to a group they belong to, and only if their role in that group is ticked here. |
| Allowed groups based on privacy | Which group privacy levels (public, private, hidden) can be offered in the group picker |
| Group activity | Create a group activity entry when a linked post is published, so the group is told about it |
Who can link, precisely
Section titled “Who can link, precisely”This is the question the setting was always meant to answer, and before 4.0.0 it did not. The check looked at whether the group had any admin, which every group does, so every member could link regardless of the setting.
It now asks about the member’s own role in their own group. With Group Admin ticked and nothing else, only a member who is an admin of that group can link a post to it.
Group Featured Posts
Section titled “Group Featured Posts”Group admins and moderators can pin posts to the top of their group’s blog.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Enable Featured Posts | Allow featuring inside groups |
| Who can feature posts? | Group Admin, Group Moderator |
| Maximum Featured Posts | Per group. Set to 0 for unlimited. |
This is not the same as the free plugin’s site-wide Featured Posts. Group featuring is scoped to one group and controlled by that group’s admins; site-wide featuring is controlled by your editors and appears in the Featured Posts block and shortcode. The two are independent.
The Group Blog Tab
Section titled “The Group Blog Tab”Once integration is on, groups get a Blog tab showing their linked posts, with a count. Group admins can turn the tab on or off per group from the group’s Settings screen. New groups get the site default.
