BuddyPress Community

Eventonomy Pro weaves events into a BuddyPress community. When BuddyPress is active, Pro adds event surfaces to groups and member profiles, posts to the activity stream, and sends bell notifications - all reusing your existing events, so nothing is duplicated or trapped.

Requires Eventonomy Pro and BuddyPress (tested with BuddyX). Each feature turns itself off automatically if the matching BuddyPress component is disabled.

Group Events

Every BuddyPress group gets an Events tab:

Members see the group’s events in a List or Calendar view.
Members with permission to create events get a Create Event button that opens the normal event form - the new event is automatically linked to the group.
A group event is a normal Eventonomy event with the group attached, so it also appears on the event’s own page, the main events archive, RSVPs, tickets and emails work exactly as usual.

Only members who can create events (and who belong to the group) see the Create button.

One event, several groups

An event is no longer tied to a single group. When a member who belongs to more than one group creates or edits an event, the editor offers a space picker listing their own groups, and the event can be linked to several at once - it then shows up under the Events tab of every group it belongs to. A link can also be removed later without deleting the event. Behind the scenes each event carries a set of linked spaces (exposed on the REST event as space_ids), so this works the same way for the mobile app and any custom integration.

Each member profile gets an Events tab with sub-tabs:

Organizing - events the member created.
Going - events the member is attending.
Interested - events the member saved (Pro follows).
Maybe - events the member marked Maybe.

All four buckets show upcoming events only and paginate as the list grows, so a member with hundreds of RSVPs still loads a bounded, ordered list; a past event simply drops off the tab once it ends (the underlying RSVP or follow record is never deleted).

Privacy is built in: when you view someone else’s profile you only see their Organizing and Going events; Interested and Maybe are private to the owner. On your own profile a Create Event button links to your dashboard.

Activity stream

Member actions can appear in the BuddyPress activity feed:

“{member} created an event” when a public, published event is published.
“{member} is attending {event}” when a member RSVPs Going.

Only public, published events and real members post to the stream. Each member keeps a single, tidy activity per event - switching from Maybe to Going to cancelled updates or removes it rather than piling up. Events that belong to a group post to that group’s feed (and are hidden from the site-wide feed).

Notifications

Organizers receive a native BuddyPress bell notification when someone RSVPs Going to their event.

Settings

Under Eventonomy - Settings - Integrations you’ll find a Community (BuddyPress) card:

A master Enable the BuddyPress integration switch.
Individual toggles for the Group Events tab, the member profile Events tab, the activity stream, and notifications.

Turning any of these off is safe and fully reversible - your events, RSVPs and group links are never deleted, and re-enabling brings the surfaces back exactly as they were. If BuddyPress is deactivated entirely, your events remain intact and reachable through Eventonomy’s own pages.

Privacy

A member’s followed events and organizers are personal data that Pro exports and erases through WordPress’s standard data-subject tools. See Privacy & GDPR (Pro).
