Instructor Settings
Instructor Settings is where you manage all instructor accounts on your site — view who has applied, approve pending instructors, add instructors manually, and control how instructor features behave.
How to Access
Section titled “How to Access”Go to WordPress Admin > LearnDash Dashboard > Settings > Instructor Settings.
View All Instructors
Section titled “View All Instructors”The page shows a table of everyone with instructor access on your site. You can filter the table by status:

| Pending | Applicants waiting for your approval |
Each row shows the instructor’s username, name, email, role, status, and commission rate.
Add an Instructor Manually
Section titled “Add an Instructor Manually”- Click Add New Instructor
- Fill in their First Name, Last Name, Username, Email, Password, and Bio
- Click Add Instructor
The new account is created immediately as an active instructor (or as pending if you have the approval requirement enabled).
Instructor Approval Setting
Section titled “Instructor Approval Setting”Controls whether new instructor applications need your review before taking effect.
- Disabled (default): Applicants instantly become active instructors
- Enabled: Applicants are marked as pending until you manually approve them
Find this setting in Settings > General Settings > Instructor Role Status.
Course Publishing Setting
Section titled “Course Publishing Setting”Controls whether courses created by instructors go live immediately or need your review first.
- Auto-Approval on: Instructor-created courses publish right away
- Auto-Approval off: Instructor-created courses save as drafts for you to review
Find this setting in Settings > General Settings > Course Publish Status.
Let Instructors Create Categories and Tags
Section titled “Let Instructors Create Categories and Tags”When this setting is on, instructors can create new course categories and tags from their dashboard. When off, they can only choose from categories and tags that already exist.
Find this in Settings > General Settings > Instructor Course Tags.
Show Earnings to Instructors
Section titled “Show Earnings to Instructors”When this is on, the Earnings tab appears in each instructor’s dashboard so they can view their commission history. This also requires Monetization to be enabled.
Find this in Settings > General Settings > Instructor Earning Logs.
Instructor Access to Their Own Courses
Section titled “Instructor Access to Their Own Courses”Instructors automatically get access to any course they create or are assigned to as a co-instructor. No configuration is needed for this — it works automatically.
Email Notifications
Section titled “Email Notifications”When someone applies to become an instructor, you receive an automatic email notification. Configure your email delivery settings in Settings > Integration.
