Notifications Settings

The Messaging tab controls automated emails and event reminders, and with Pro, SMS messages and custom reminder timing. Configure the sender identity, which emails fire, and (Pro) add Twilio credentials.

Go to Eventonomy → Settings → Messaging to access these options. (This was the Notifications tab before the settings screen was consolidated into seven tabs; the old ?tab=notifications link still resolves here.)

Email

Setting	Default	Description
Email attendees when their RSVP is confirmed or cancelled	On	Sends a confirmation to the attendee (member or guest) immediately after they RSVP, and a notice when their RSVP is cancelled by them or an organizer. It also controls the waitlist promotion email, so switching it off stops all three.
Email an admin when someone submits an event	On	Notifies site admins when a member creates a new event. Especially useful when Approval mode is on.
From name	Site name	The name shown in the attendee’s inbox as the sender (e.g. “Acme Events”).
From address	WordPress admin email	The email address the mail comes from. Must be a real address; some hosts reject noreply@ addresses without SPF/DKIM records.

Note: To prevent emails from landing in spam, set the From address to a domain where you have SPF and DKIM records published. If you use a hosted service (Google Workspace, Zoho), use that domain’s SMTP via a plugin like WP Mail SMTP.

Email Templates (Pro)

Pro - Custom email templates require Eventonomy Pro.

When Pro is active, an Email templates (Pro) card appears below the Email card. It holds a Send the order confirmation email when an order is paid switch (on by default) and a Subject plus Body field for each of five emails: RSVP confirmation, Event submitted (admin), Event reminder, Order confirmation, and New event from a followed organizer. Every field ships pre-filled with a working default, so you edit rather than write from scratch. Full reference: Email Templates.

SMS Notifications (Pro)

Pro - SMS notifications require Eventonomy Pro.

The SMS notifications feature card is visible on the Free plan but the toggle is locked. Activate Pro to unlock it.

When Pro is active:

1. Toggle SMS notifications on.
2. Enter your Twilio Account SID, Twilio Auth Token, and Twilio “from” number (a Twilio number you have provisioned, in E.164 format such as +14155551234).
3. Save changes.

The Auth Token is masked once saved; leave it blank to keep the stored token, or paste a new one to replace it.

The event reminder is the notification that carries an SMS body, so that is what attendees who gave a phone number receive as a text. Everything else still goes by email (and to the in-app feed for signed-in members).

Event Reminders

The Event reminders card works on the Free plan and is on by default: attendees with a Going RSVP are reminded automatically 1 day and 1 hour before the event starts, with no setup needed. The card’s toggle turns reminders off site-wide.

An hourly job (Action Scheduler when available, otherwise WP-Cron) sweeps for events starting inside each reminder window and sends the emails in background batches. Reminders only fire when your site’s cron runs; see the cron note in Reminders & SMS.

Pro - With Pro active the card gains one extra field, Send the reminder this many hours before the event starts (default 24). It replaces the 1-day-plus-1-hour baseline rather than adding to it, so a site set to 3 sends exactly one reminder three hours out. Developers can change the Free offsets with the evnm_reminder_offsets filter.
