Reign add-ons
Reign add-ons are separate plugins that deepen Reign’s integration with a specific third-party tool. Each one needs its third-party plugin installed to do anything, and each is current and supported.
There are nine:

Styling is in the theme. Features are in the add-on.
Section titled “Styling is in the theme. Features are in the add-on.”This is the distinction that decides whether you need one.
The theme styles the third-party plugin so it does not look unstyled next to the rest of your site. Install LearnDash or Dokan and Reign’s styling layer turns on by itself, with nothing extra to install. That is what the Integrations screen in Reign Settings is reporting when it lists a plugin.
The add-on adds functionality on top of that. Taking the LearnDash add-on as the example, it ships course reviews, a student dashboard, related courses, dedicated widgets, a set of template overrides, its own admin settings, and a BuddyPress bridge so courses and community talk to each other. None of that exists in the theme.
So: styled without the add-on, extended with it.
When a fresh site does not need one
Section titled “When a fresh site does not need one”Reign now has a full set of in-house plugins, and they cover the same ground as the third-party tools these add-ons support:

If you are starting fresh and build on the in-house plugins, you do not need the third-party tool, and therefore do not need its add-on either. Reign supports those plugins directly, so there is no integration layer to buy.
If you already run LearnDash, Dokan or any of the others, keep them. The add-on is the right way to get the deeper integration, and switching platforms just to avoid one is rarely worth the migration.
Which route is right for you
Section titled “Which route is right for you”Choose the third-party tool plus its add-on when you already run that plugin, or when you need something specific to it that the in-house equivalent does not do yet.
Choose the in-house plugin when you are starting from nothing, want fewer vendors, or want the community side wired in without a bridge.
Both are supported. Neither is a downgrade.
Installing an add-on
Section titled “Installing an add-on”- Install and activate the third-party plugin first. The add-on has nothing to attach to without it.
- Install the add-on like any other plugin, from your account download.
- Activate its licence on its own settings screen. Add-on licences are separate from the theme licence and are not interchangeable.
If something looks wrong after an update
Section titled “If something looks wrong after an update”Update the theme and its add-ons in the same sitting. An add-on built against an older major version can misbehave against a newer one.
If a page renders oddly, deactivate the add-on and reload. If the problem clears, that narrows it to the add-on rather than the theme, which is exactly what a support ticket needs. See white screen after activating.
