Installation and Activation
Section titled “Installation and Activation”Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”Make sure BuddyPress is installed and active on your site. BuddyPress Profile Pro deactivates itself and shows an admin notice if BuddyPress is missing.
If you are using BP Resume Manager, deactivate it first. The two plugins cannot run simultaneously and BuddyPress Profile Pro will not activate while BP Resume Manager is active.
Install from the Wbcom license dashboard
Section titled “Install from the Wbcom license dashboard”- Log in to wbcomdesigns.com and go to your account downloads.
- Download the latest
buddypress-profile-pro.zipfile. - In your WordPress dashboard go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
- Choose the zip file and click Install Now.
- After installation completes, click Activate Plugin.
WordPress redirects you to the plugin settings page after activation.
Install via FTP / cPanel file manager
Section titled “Install via FTP / cPanel file manager”- Extract the zip file on your computer. You should have a folder named
buddypress-profile-pro. - Upload that folder to
/wp-content/plugins/on your server. - In the WordPress dashboard go to Plugins > Installed Plugins, find Wbcom Designs – BuddyPress Profile Pro, and click Activate.
What happens on first activation
Section titled “What happens on first activation”When the plugin activates for the first time it creates three default field groups:
- Education — repeater group with fields for Institute, Place, Degree/Program, From Year, To Year, and a “Currently attending” checkbox.
- Professional Experience — repeater group with fields for Employer, Job Title, Location, From Year, To Year, and a “Currently working here” checkbox.
- Contact Details — standard (non-repeater) group in the sidebar display area.
These are starting points. You can rename, delete, or add to them on the Group Settings and Field Settings tabs.
Activate your license
Section titled “Activate your license”To receive automatic updates you need to activate your license key.
- Go to WB Plugins > Profile Pro in the WordPress dashboard.
- Click the License tab in the left navigation.
- Paste your license key and click Activate License.
Without an active license the plugin works normally but does not receive update notifications from WordPress.
Multisite networks
Section titled “Multisite networks”On a multisite installation you can network-activate the plugin. When network-activated, the default groups and fields are created for each site in the network on activation.
Troubleshooting activation
Section titled “Troubleshooting activation”“BuddyPress Profile Pro is ineffective as it requires BuddyPress to be installed and active.” BuddyPress is not active. Install and activate BuddyPress, then activate this plugin.
“Please deactivate BP Resume Manager first to use BuddyPress Profile Pro.” Deactivate the BP Resume Manager plugin and then try activating again.
Plugin appears in the dashboard but the settings page is blank or missing. Deactivate and reactivate the plugin to re-run the activation hook that creates the default groups and fields.
