- Click General Settings in the left tab list.
- Toggle Enable activity editing to on.
- Click Save Settings.
Step 2 - Choose the edit window
Section titled “Step 2 - Choose the edit window”On the same General Settings screen, use the Edit window dropdown to pick how long after posting a member can still edit:

|---|---|
| Forever | No time limit — members can always edit their posts |
| 30 days | Edits allowed for 30 days after posting |
| 7 days | Edits allowed for 7 days after posting |
| 1 day | Edits allowed for 24 hours after posting |
| 1 hour | Edits allowed for 60 minutes after posting |
| 10 minutes | Edits allowed for 10 minutes after posting |

Verify it is working
Section titled “Verify it is working”- Log in as a regular member (not an admin) on the front end.
- Navigate to the activity stream.
- Find a post that belongs to the logged-in member.
- You should see an Edit button next to the activity meta (timestamp area).
- Click Edit, change the text, and click Update activity.
The post updates in place and shows an (edited) label after saving.
What admins see
Section titled “What admins see”Site administrators (users with the manage_options capability) always see the Edit button on any post, and the time window does not apply to them. They can edit any activity post at any time.
What members see when the window has expired
Section titled “What members see when the window has expired”Once the edit window has passed, the Edit button no longer appears. There is no error message — the button is simply absent. If you need members to know they can no longer edit, consider a theme-level customization or a note in your community guidelines.
