BuddyPress Integration Settings

The BP Integration tab controls whether reactions appear on BuddyPress content, how they interact with the existing Like/Favorite button, and whether notifications are sent. Find it at Wbcom Designs > BP Reactions > BP Integration.

Toggles reactions on or off for BuddyPress activity stream posts.

  • On — the React button appears below each activity post for logged-in members.
  • Off — no reaction button is shown on activity posts.

This is the main switch for the BuddyPress activity integration. If you only want comment reactions, you still need to leave this off unless you also want post reactions.

Toggles reactions on or off for comments within activity threads.

  • On — a React button appears below each activity comment.
  • Off — no reaction button on comments.

This setting is independent of the activity post setting above.

Controls whether the BuddyPress built-in Like or Favorite button is hidden.

  • On — the standard Like/Favorite button is replaced by the reactions interface. When a member reacts to a post, the plugin also removes any existing Like/Favorite record so the two systems do not overlap.
  • Off — both the standard button and the reactions button are visible together.

Use this when you want reactions to fully replace the Like/Favorite experience. Leave it off if you want members to keep using both.

Controls whether BuddyPress notifications are triggered when someone reacts to a member’s content.

  • On — the content author receives a BuddyPress notification when any member reacts to their activity post or comment.
  • Off — no notifications are sent for reactions.

Notifications appear in the standard BuddyPress notifications area in the member’s account.

This setting is off by default, which means plugin data (reactions, settings, database tables) is preserved if you deactivate and re-activate the plugin, or even after uninstalling it.

  • On — permanently deletes all reactions, emoji data, settings, and the three plugin database tables when you uninstall the plugin. This cannot be undone.
  • Off — data is kept after uninstall.

Turn this on only when you are certain you no longer need the reactions data. It is intended for cases where you want a clean removal.

Click Save Settings at the bottom of the form. A confirmation message appears briefly to confirm the save.
