WB Listora - Free-to-Pro Upgrade Sequence (4 Emails)

Conversion drip for active Free users. Trigger: activation of WB Listora Free. Goal: move users who are actively operating a directory to Pro when they’re ready to monetize.

Segment: users who have activated Free and have at least one published listing (confirmed active use). Do not send to users who installed but never activated.

Preview text: Three signals that tell you when it’s time to think about Pro.

Hi {{first_name}},

If your directory is up and running, you’re past the hardest part.

Here are three things worth watching over the next few weeks:

1. How often do vendors ask “how do I pay?” When vendors want to be featured - or pay for placement - and you don’t have an answer, that’s Pro territory. Credit-based pricing plans, featured rotation, and 7 payment gateway integrations are what the upgrade adds.

2. How many leads are contact forms generating? The contact form in Free forwards messages. It works. But it doesn’t tell you which listings convert, what the fill rate is, or which visitor paths lead to contact. Pro’s Lead Forms track all of that.

3. How much time are you spending on moderation? If you’re reviewing every listing and review submission yourself, Pro’s Moderators team lets you delegate those tasks to trusted team members - with scoped capabilities so they can only do what you’ve allowed.

None of these mean you need Pro now. But if you’re hitting any of them, it’s worth knowing what the upgrade looks like.

Subject: The question every directory operator eventually asks

Preview text: “How do I charge vendors?” - here’s the complete answer.

Hi {{first_name}},

The question every directory operator eventually hits: how do I make money from this?

The short answer: WB Listora Pro handles the payment infrastructure so you don’t have to build it yourself.

Here’s how it works:

You define the plans. Set credit packs (10 credits for $40, 50 credits for $150) and pricing plans (Basic: 5 credits/month, Featured: 15 credits/month with carousel rotation). You control the pricing.

Vendors buy credits. Through WooCommerce, MemberPress, Paid Memberships Pro, Stripe, PayPal, or WooCommerce Subscriptions - whichever gateway they prefer. Every top-up flows through one ledger.

Credits activate listings. When a vendor submits a listing under a paid plan, credits are held and committed when the listing activates. If activation fails, the hold cancels - no partial charges.

Featured listings rotate automatically. Vendors spend credits to appear in the homepage featured carousel for a defined period. You don’t manage the schedule - they do.

The full monetization stack - credits, plans, coupons, webhooks, analytics - is what Pro adds on top of the directory Free already gives you.

Email 3 - Week 4: The trust and scale angle

Subject: How directories earn repeat visitors

Preview text: Reviews matter. Verification matters more.

Hi {{first_name}},

Visitors come back to directories they trust. Two things build that trust faster than anything else: great reviews and verified listings.

On reviews:

Free includes a solid review system - star ratings, written reviews, helpful votes, owner replies, moderation queue. That’s enough to start.

But as your directory grows, a single overall star rating stops being informative. Visitors want to know: was the food good even if the service was slow? Was the hotel location great but the cleanliness disappointing?

Pro’s multi-criteria reviews let reviewers rate individual aspects separately - Food, Service, Value, Ambiance for a restaurant, or any set of criteria you define per listing type. Each gets its own score. Photo reviews let reviewers attach images. The composite breakdown displays on the listing detail page and in search facets.

On verification:

Verification badges (Pro) let you mark vetted listings as Verified Owner, Top Rated, or whatever badge taxonomy fits your directory. Badges appear on listing cards, detail pages, and in search results - they’re visible at every touchpoint. You control who gets them and when they expire.

Visitors click verified listings more. Vendors want to be verified. That dynamic creates the feedback loop a healthy directory needs.

Subject: Still on Free? Here’s what you’re leaving on the table.

Preview text: Not a pitch. An honest accounting of what Pro adds.

Hi {{first_name}},

You’ve been running WB Listora Free for two months. That’s enough time to know whether the directory is working and whether you’re ready to grow it.

Here’s an honest accounting of what you’re missing without Pro:

Revenue:

  • No credit-based pricing plans - you can’t charge vendors for placement
  • No lead forms with conversion analytics - contact forms work but don’t tell you what’s converting
  • No featured rotation - you can’t let vendors pay to appear in the homepage carousel
  • No coupons - you can’t run promotions

Trust at scale:

  • No verification badges - every listing looks the same to visitors
  • No multi-criteria reviews - one overall score instead of per-aspect breakdowns
  • No moderators team - every listing review and claim approval falls on you

Discovery:

  • No saved searches with alerts - visitors can’t subscribe to new listings matching their criteria
  • No SEO landing pages - no auto-generated /restaurants-in-brooklyn/ pages
  • No side-by-side comparison - visitors can’t evaluate multiple options at once
  • No Needs Marketplace - buyers can’t post what they’re looking for

Analytics:

  • No per-listing views, clicks, or lead tracking
  • No directory-wide performance data

If any of those gaps are slowing you down, Pro is the fix. Current pricing and a full feature comparison at wbcomdesigns.com.

If you’re genuinely happy on Free and none of those gaps matter for what you’re building - that’s completely valid. Free is designed to be complete for open directories. You don’t need to upgrade to run a real directory.
