Configuring Maps
This guide turns on the location map for job and resume archives and tunes its appearance.
Step 1: Add a Google Maps API key
Section titled “Step 1: Add a Google Maps API key”- In WP Job Manager, go to Job Listings > Settings.
- Find the Google Maps API Key field and paste a key that has the Maps JavaScript API and Places API enabled.
- Save.
The addon reads this same key. There is no separate key field in the addon.
Step 2: Turn on the header map
Section titled “Step 2: Turn on the header map”- Open Reign Options > WP Job Manager > Job Manager Map Settings.
- Enable Show Google Map On Job Listing Header.
- Enable Show Google Map On Resume Listing Header if you want it on resume archives (requires WP Job Manager Resumes).
- Save.
Step 3: Tune the map
Section titled “Step 3: Tune the map”Adjust these in the same settings group:
- Map Zoom Level - start with 3 for a country-wide view; raise it for a tighter view.
- Map Type - Roadmap, Satellite, Hybrid, or Terrain.
- Map Height - accepts pixels or percentage, for example
400pxor100%. - Map Language - a language code such as
enorfrfor the map and Places autocomplete.
Step 4: Enable clustering (optional)
Section titled “Step 4: Enable clustering (optional)”On busy boards, group nearby markers:
- Enable Enable Marker Cluster.
- Set Min. Marker Cluster to the smallest number of markers that should form a cluster (default 3).
- Save.
Step 5: Verify
Section titled “Step 5: Verify”Visit the job archive. The map should appear in the header with a marker for each geocoded listing. If markers are missing, confirm the listings have locations that WP Job Manager could geocode, and that the API key is valid. See Troubleshooting for map-specific fixes.
