Managing Fields and Terms
This guide covers turning the extra job and resume fields on or off, and editing the predefined taxonomy terms behind them.
Enable or disable job fields
Section titled “Enable or disable job fields”- Go to Job Listings > Settings in WP Job Manager.
- On the Job Listings tab, find the addon’s checkboxes: Salary, Career Level, Experience, Gender, Industry, Qualification.
- Check or uncheck each field. All are on by default.
- Save.
Turning a field off removes it from the job submission form. The taxonomy and its terms remain in the database.
Enable or disable resume fields
Section titled “Enable or disable resume fields”- Go to the WP Job Manager Resumes settings.
- On the Resume Listings tab, find: Experience, Age, Current Salary, Expected Salary, Gender, Education Level, Language.
- Check or uncheck each field, then save.
Edit the predefined terms
Section titled “Edit the predefined terms”Each field is backed by a taxonomy that seeds default terms once, when it is still empty. To change them:
- Open the taxonomy’s submenu (for example Job Listings > Industries or Job Listings > Salaries).
- Add a term to extend the list, edit a term to rename it, or delete terms you do not need.
- New terms appear in the submission form and any filters automatically.
Because seeding only runs on an empty taxonomy, editing terms is safe. The addon will not re-add or overwrite terms you have changed.
Localize salary ranges
Section titled “Localize salary ranges”The default salary terms are in US dollars. To match another market, edit the terms under Job Listings > Salaries, for example changing $30,000 - $40,000 to a local currency and range. Slugs can stay as-is or be updated; if you change slugs, flush permalinks afterward.
Gender and compliance
Section titled “Gender and compliance”Gender fields for both jobs and resumes are optional and enabled by default. Some regions restrict asking for gender in recruitment. Review local law and disable the Gender field if it does not apply to your board.
Notes on term counts
Section titled “Notes on term counts”The seeded lists are a practical starting point, not a fixed set: 9 salary ranges, 9 career levels, 6 experience bands, 4 gender options, 18 industries, and 8 qualifications for jobs. Resume taxonomies are seeded similarly. Extend or trim any list to fit your site.
