Frequently Asked Questions

Does this plugin work without the Reign theme?

Section titled “Does this plugin work without the Reign theme?”

No. Reign is a hard dependency. If the active theme is not Reign, the addon deactivates itself and shows an admin notice. It also requires WP Job Manager for the same reason.

Only if you want resumes. Resume archives, single resume layouts, resume taxonomies, candidate social links, the resume map, and the jobmate_resume_listing shortcode all load only when WP Job Manager Resumes is active. Job features work without it.

On the Reign theme options page, under a WP Job Manager tab. It is not a separate top-level menu. The extra job and resume field checkboxes live on WP Job Manager’s own settings screens.

No. There are no REST endpoints, no AJAX handlers, no custom database tables, and no WP-CLI commands. All behavior runs through form submissions handled by WP Job Manager and through WordPress hooks. Any documentation elsewhere describing REST endpoints or AJAX filter hooks for this addon is incorrect.

In WP Job Manager’s own settings (Job Listings > Settings), field job_manager_google_maps_api_key. The addon reuses that key and does not store its own.

The modern candidate social-links dropdown offers ten networks: LinkedIn, GitHub, X (Twitter), Behance, Dribbble, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and Pinterest. Legacy single fields cover eight of these and continue to work for existing data.

Will activation overwrite my existing taxonomy terms?

Section titled “Will activation overwrite my existing taxonomy terms?”

No. Predefined terms are seeded only when a taxonomy is completely empty. If you already have terms, or after you edit the seeded ones, the addon leaves them alone.

Can I change the layout on a page that is not the main archive?

Section titled “Can I change the layout on a page that is not the main archive?”

Yes. Use the jobmate_job_listing or jobmate_resume_listing shortcodes with their layout attributes to place a differently styled grid anywhere. The Reign options control the main WP Job Manager archive pages.

Yes. All user-facing strings use the reign-wp-job-manager-addon text domain and a .pot file ships in languages/. Version 3.1.0 bundles machine-translated first passes for Arabic, German, German (formal), Spanish, French, Italian, and Dutch. Refine them per site with a tool such as Loco Translate.

WordPress 6.5 or higher and PHP 8.0 or higher. Tested up to WordPress 7.0. Check the PHP version on older sites before updating; sites below the floors are refused the update rather than left to fatal.

The addon itself is a premium plugin, licensed with an EDD license key entered in the Reign license section. It does not have a separate free and pro split.
